The borough lies on land initially owned by Edward Rees, who immigrated from Wales in 1682. He was also the founder of Elm as a Quaker-welcoming town in 1881. It was until 1893 that the town went by the name of Narberth. It was incorporated as a town in 1895.
The borough’s population in 2010 was 4,282. It spreads to an area of 0.5 sq. miles and has an elevation of 308 feet above sea level.
