  • The Federal School

This is a historical site that features a one-room schoolhouse located at 124 Allgates Dr, Haverford, PA 19041. The school began in 1797. In fact, it gained its federal name because the community members had pride in being part of the United States Federal. In 1849, Pennsylvania’s Commonwealth purchased the building and renamed it to Haverford Seminary Number 1.

The Federal school served as a public school until Horatio Gates bought it in 1940. After the family moved out of the house, the government used the historical site as a storage building. In 1971, the building was included in the National Register of Historic Places. So, it is one of the best attraction sites  in Haverford.
