Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum
Indianapolis achieved tremendous cultural and social growth in the early 20th century. The greatest contribution to this was because of the huge natural gas discovery that was done in 1886. Additionally, other years later after the discovery of Trenton Gas Field, oil was also discovered in the region thus the increase in population. Indianapolis is located in Marion County, and it was recognized as a consolidated city on March 30, 1847. The current Mayor of the city is Hogsett Joe, and the city spans 367.97 square miles. The city’s rise is 718 feet, and its region codes are 463 and 317.

Exhibits on this site!
There are many exhibits on this site, including the 75 cars that are always on display when you visit the museum. The museum is also designed with a floor-spacing that adds up to 37,500 square feet, which is just a small portion of the total collection that can be put on display. In most cases, the museum’s management sends cars on loan for display at other historical car shows, museums, parades, among other activities.
Some of the collection includes more than thirty Indianapolis 500 winning cars and other models from Indy cars, not to mention the several racing cars obtained from other fronts. The exhibits also include some pace cars and passenger cars, while the focus is on those automobiles manufactured in Indiana by famous automotive Indiana companies.
There are also other items on display, including various plaques, trophies, and other racing equipment like gloves, helmets, and driver’s suits. The most amazing exhibits are those rotating exhibits that comprise various elements like model cars, paintings, toys, and photos. More displays include various highlights of the history related to Speedway ownership, the track evolution, and memorabilia from the ancient years.
The Special Exhibits
In the recent past, the museum introduced two special exhibits every year, one that runs from the early spring through late October and another starts in the intervening months. Recently, the museum assumed the special displays dedicated to the winning teams called Penske and Andretti Autosports race cars. The museum is also designed with an incredible basement because of its large collection size.
Since the collections are abundant, space constraints have developed, thus the reason why the larger part of the collection is still in storage. That is why some cars are put on rotation for display purposes while others are put in storage permanently, thus keeping them out of public view. With that said, it could be best if you knew that those storage areas are off bounds to the public unless invited.
