About the Museum
According to history, the museum was founded in 1952, and its chief founder was Mary Stewart, a rich civic patron that owned the glass company Stewart-Carey. The pushing factor behind the creation of this museum was her visit to Brooklyn Children’s Museum. As mentioned earlier, this museum is divided into three parts.
Its main stairwell is quite a large spiral ramp that allows visitors to easily access the various levels of the museum using strollers, walkers, and wheelchairs. There is also a four-story glass sculpture in the museum installed by a famous glass artist in 2006. Speaking of its various compartments, let’s look at its lower level called the National Geographic. This compartment is where you will locate the various treasures of the universe.
This section was first opened to the public on June 11, 2011. There is an incredible area in this section equipped with various Egyptian artifacts from the ancient eras. Most of these artifacts represent the replica of the Seti I tomb.
Next is the Main Floor
Next is the main floor that is located on the ground level. The section is equipped with various juvenile and adult Brachiosaur sculptures that are physiologically accurate compared to the most recent paleontological knowledge. Outside the museum but still under this section, you will locate the Seven Wonders of the World, a parking garage, a spacious parking lot that allows the public to conduct large parties, and a green rain garden.
The second level is famous because of its ability to host many temporary exhibits found in the museum. The third floor is characterized by a permanent exhibit that features various stories from Ruby Bridges, Ryan White, and Anne Frank.
