Conner Prairie
Indianapolis is the largest city in Indiana with a population of over 876,384 citizens. The city was inhabited by indigenous people as early as 10,000 BC. According to history, Indy was a planned city dedicated to the new seat of Indy’s state government. Fordham Elias and Alexander Ralston platted the city, basing their experience on a 2.6-kilometer square grid adjacent to River White. The name Indianapolis is derived from the term Indiana, which means Indians or the Indian land. The word polis is a Greek term that means city. The term Indianapolis was created by Sullivan Jeremiah, who was the justice for Indiana Supreme Court.
